I Sold My Boat!

After nearly sixteen years, I sold Jolly Mon – but not without good reason. In my latest video, I say goodbye to an old friend and introduce my viewers to a new one!

SOLD – 1970 Tollycraft 28’ Royal Express Cruiser

IMG_1423

This is an opportunity to own a classic Northwest cruiser which has been lovingly maintained and updated in the more than fifteen years I have owned the boat.  She is equipped to cruise in comfort, safety, and style.  Diesel cabin heat keeps the cabin warm and dry for year round cruising, and the recently-installed solar charging system allows for extended time away from a dock.  Drop the hook in your favorite anchorages with the robust anchor and ground tackle setup, and go exploring in the fast, safe, and efficient tender.

She cruises comfortably at 16 knots at 2600 rpm, or take your time and enjoy your time on the water at 7 knots at 1200 rpm.  Autopilot, which is integrated into the navigation system makes slow cruising a pleasure.

This boat is available for sale as I am moving up to a larger Tollycraft.  There has been far more invested in updates and improvements than the asking price.

$28,500 *SOLD*

Seeking Simplicity

It has been a long time.  And much has happened and some changes have taken place – some rather big ones, and all for the positive in my book.  In my latest video I explain my absence from this blog and my YouTube channel, and share my latest “recipe”.

Boating in the San Juan Islands | Westcott Bay Shellfish Co.

One of my favorite spots to drop the anchor in the San Juan Islands is likely Garrison Bay. I like the great holding bottom, the hike up Young Hill, and the overall history of the place.  Another thing I like – it’s just around the corner from Westcott Bay and the Westcott Bay Shellfish Co.

I remember visiting the shellfish farm several years ago, when the place had fallen into disrepair prior closing for a while.  Since 2013, new owners Erik and Andrea Anderson have poured a ton of work into the farm, making it a place that is a pleasure to visit.

In my latest video, I visit the Westcott Bay Shellfish Co., where I meet the folks who work the farm and enjoy some of their tasty shellfish.  Check it out!

Boating in the San Juan Islands | Matia Island

Maa-sha?

Ma-tia?

Mat-ia?

I’ve heard it pronounced different ways, but no matter how you say it, Matia Island is an absolute gem in the San Juan Islands.  In my latest video I visit the Island, have a look around, and enjoy the quiet while sharing the place with only one other boat.

I addition to being a Washington State Park, Matia Island is also part of the San Juan Islands National Wildlife Refuge.  Limited access to the island, with pets and fires prohibited, has helped to preserve it as a special place to visit.
